The following slides introduce core themes of the Spring 1999 seminar, "Readings in Cognitive Science."
They motivate an approach to a series of readings and propose a research hypothesis to be pursued by the seminar. The hypothesis is that carefully designed software can support powerful forms of collaborative learning.
The research agenda combines very theoretical philosophical ideas with very practical experimental investigation.
The agenda involves textual interpretation and computer-mediated interaction by an interdisciplinary group of participants.
