Installing the Swing 1.1.1 library

Go to the website: http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/download.html

Follow instructions there to download and install the Swing 1.1.1 Java library.

This will allow you to use a smaller version of WebGuide that downloads much quicker when you start it up.

Mac OS 8.1 or later with Internet Explorer 4 or later -

Step 1: Installing MRJ 2.1

Download The Mac Runtime System for Java MRJ 2.1.x
Unpack the File (using Stuffit Expander) and start the Installer.

If you have a problem running the installer, try dragging the download to the Disk Copy application.

Start Internet Explorer and open the Preferences on the Edit menu.
In the Java-Tab enable Java and set the Java Virtual Machine to Apple MRJ.

Step 2: Installing the Swing Components

Download the Swing Library from SUN: Swing 1.1.1 (Choose the ZIP-File)
Unpack the ZIP-File. (e.g. with Stuffit Expander)
You will find a file named swingall.jar.

Copy swingall.jar into the Folder
System Folder: Extensions: MRJ Libraries: MRJClasses .

The Swing installer on the Mac copies the file it needs,
but it may not copy it to the correct location.  You'll need to copy the file
"swingall.jar" that it installs to the folder System Folder:Extensions:MRJ
Libraries:MRJ Classes

This is how to do this:
1.  Find where swing installed the file called swingall.jar.  If you
accepted the default location, then
1a. Double click on your hard drive
1b. Double click on the Applications folder
1c. Double click on the Swing-1.1.1 folder
(alternatively - use the Mac find file command to locate the file called
swingall.jar)

2. Once you find the file make a copy by holding down the OPTION key and
dragging the file to the desktop.  You'll now have a copy of this file on
your desktop.

3a.  Double click on your hard drive
3b.  Double click on the System Folder
3c.  Double click on the Extensions folder
3d.  Double click on the MRJ Libraries folder
3e.  Double click on the MRJClasses classes folder
(this is the location you're going to move the file to)

4. Drag the file from your desktop into this MRJClasses folder

5. You're done!  When you start IE, Webguide should work.
